RAY KEITH

Ray Keith DJ, Producer, Remixer, Record Label Figure Head, Radio & TV Presenter and notorious counterpart in the UK and World Wide Music Industry has been on the Dance Music circuit for almost 20 years. Born in the heart of Essex, Colchester, Ray started his career in small venues around Essex, gradually building his name and reputation, before progressing onto bigger clubs in and around the London club circuit.

From rare-groove to acid-house to hardcore to jungle, Ray Keith remained one of the steadiest DJs on England's breakbeat scene during the 1980s and '90s. After a remix of Orbital's "Chime," he moved into production with apparent ease and by the middle of the '90s, he had become one of the most inspired drum 'n' bass DJs and remixers

Having discovered his niche within the drum ‘n’ bass music scene he managed to notch up two of the scene’s most memorable releases: “The Renegade Terrorist” and “The Chopper”. Ray set up his record label Dread Recordings in 1994 and has not looked back. Now, with over 60 releases and over a decade later the label is still going strong and has lead to collaborations with many artists such as Shades Of Rhythm, Moby, Chuck D and St.Etienne to name a few.

Over the years Ray has also kept his ear to the ground by working in London’s most famous record shop, BM Soho (formerly known as Blackmarket Records), which is a right of passage for any junglist and makes him an all rounder in the Music business. Previously he has worked on Vibe FM and Radio Ones, 1 in the Jungle radio show but has finally come back to his roots by securing a weekly spot on the popular urban radio station Kiss fm and his audience is continually expanding. Rays musical taste range from soul, funk and hip hop to classical and these styles have always influenced his ambidextrous style of production making him an exceptionally versatile musician.
